Quote Note 16 - Healthcare Social Media Policies - Employee's online views

Your social media policies can identify who is authorized to speak on behalf of your institution.

Encourage everybody else to make it clear their online views are their own.

You can't force employees to hide that they work for your institution, nor can you prohibit them from talking about your institution.

"You can guide, you can monitor, you can educate but you can't prohibit."

Quote Note 14- Healthcare Social Media Policies - Enforcement and Education

Like email, use of social media for work purposes only is hard to enforce.

So, communicate your social media policy extensively and not just once.

Do it on a regular basis, similar to compliance training when you're in a healthcare system.

Have fun with it. Educate about a policy or a particular nuance in an entertaining way so people will pay attention.
