Small Worlds and Six Degrees of Separation

Complex networks are often small worlds, in the sense that it takes only a few steps along the connections in the network to travel between its elements, despite the fact that the networks are often enormous. In this animation, this is explained for social networks, where the phenomenon is well known under the name `Six Degrees of Separation'.
